Work out the adjusted cost base and the capital gain or loss on shares or crypto, the way the CRA expects.
| Type | Quantity | Price | Fees |

Enter every buy and sell of one share or coin in date order. Canada uses the average cost (adjusted cost base): buys and their fees raise it; a sale uses the average cost of the units sold.

Questions
What is the adjusted cost base (ACB)?
The average cost of the units you hold, including purchase fees. When you sell, the cost of the units sold is the ACB per unit times the units sold.
How much of a capital gain is taxed?
Half of it (the 50% inclusion rate) is added to your income. Rules on superficial losses, business income and your own situation can change this - check with an accountant.
Does it work for crypto?
Yes. The CRA treats most crypto disposals like property, so the same ACB method applies.
